NO NEW NUKES – ALDERMASTON 2004
LONDON TO ALDERMASTON MARCH - FRIDAY 9 APRIL TO MONDAY 12 APRIL
` Members of Kent Area CND will be travelling to Trafalgar Square on
Good
Friday 9 April 2004 to take part in the Rally and send off for the
marchers when they leave for the first leg of the Aldermaston
march. The enclosed leaflet gives full details of the excellent
line up of speakers for the rally which starts at 11.00 a.m. The
marchers (accompanied by a jazz band) are due to leave Trafalgar
Square, at 1.00 p.m. and some members do intend to march part of the
first leg with the Kent Area banner. Indeed some members are
taking part in the whole event and others intend to travel to
Aldermaston for the arrival of the march on Easter Monday.
Kent Area CND plan to meet by the steps in front of the National
gallery leading into Trafalgar Square between 10.45 and 11.00 a.m. on
Good Friday. Regarding travelling to Aldermaston please contact

. Membership. Many thanks for all those who have returned the
slips sent
out with the last mailing. For those who have not responded, can I
suggest that they should be returned by 30 April 2004. After that
date it will be assumed that you do not wish to remain on the mailing
list.
. Meeting 7 April 2004 Friends Meeting House, The Friars,
Canterbury 7.30
p.m.
Kent Area CND has been invited to speak at this meeting called by the
East Kent Peace Alliance. The meeting is entitled PEACE:
CURRENT ISSUES AND SECURITY FOR THE FUTURE. The line up of other
speakers includes Caroline Lucas MEP for the Green Party and
representatives of UNA, Lib-Dems, Respect and the Labour Party.
. UNA Global Citizenship event, Town Hall, Dover.
Enclosed is a
flyer about this event, which has been organised by United Nations
Association. Kent Area CND will be having a stall at the event
and any offers of help to run this would be appreciated. The day
promises to be very informative with several other organisations having
exhibition stalls. In the afternoon (1.30 p.m.) there is to be an
open seminar on “Global Citizenship and You”with Malcolm Harper,
Director of UNA/UK.
. National Council – in the absence of a delegate to council,
Rick Norman
and Pam Brivio attended as observers to the last meeting held on 27/28
March 2004. A report will be sent out with agenda for the next
meeting of Kent Area CND, which is to take place at Unitarian Church,
Hammond Hill, Rochester on Sunday 9 May 2004.
. Meeting on NPT and Review Conference – Carol Naughton,
ex-chair of CND
has agreed to come along to a joint meeting of Kent Area CND and Surrey
CND to give an up date on the preparations for Review Conference
of the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Provisional date has been set for 11
July 2004 with the venue to be confirmed (hopefully Sevenoaks)
